Meet Our Trailblazers

You will have opportunities to meet and engage with all our trailblazers, instructors and participants across different facilities at Flag Is Up Farms. We have prepared picnic areas to spread out and enjoy catered lunches, conversations and stories with our presenters and like-minded horse lovers.
Ashley Avis is a filmmaker and passionate, longtime equestrian. She wrote, directed and edited Disney’s Black Beauty, starring Oscar winner Kate Winslet, Mackenzie Foy, and Iain Glen.  On the heels of the film, she began rescuing horses in need and launched The Wild Beauty Foundation. Ashley is currently writing and creating a documentary about Mustangs.   
Jamie Jennings trains horses and people in Norman, Oklahoma  and co-hosts the popular podcasts ‘Horses In the Morning’ and ‘Retired Racehorse Radio’. Jamie is ASPCA’s Trainer of the Year 2021 and has been recognized by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for extraordinary efforts to reduce violence in the training of horses and her work with veterans and youth. 
Marty Irby is the executive director at Animal Wellness Action in Washington, D.C., leading the charge to bring an end to the painful practice of “soring” Walking Horses.  Marty was essential for the presidential signing of the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act and was recognized by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for his extraordinary efforts to reduce violence in the training of horses.
Monty Roberts has dedicated his life to violence-free training methods with horses, based on the silent language of Equus, and has won 11 world championships in the show ring, across disciplines. Monty continues to travel the world to share his concepts with everyone from the world’s top breeders to the recreational horse lover and is deeply invested in his equine-based outreach programs for veterans, first responders and vulnerable youth.
